Center for Biomathematical Technology

Objectives

The main goals of the Center for Biomathematical Technology encompass both research and education.

In terms of research, members of the center are available to provide assistance to scientists in the designing of future experiments which have the potential of deriving substantial benefits from the utilization of specialized mathematical technology. These activities come in response to recent ammouncements from the National Institutes of Health, calling for interdisciplinary approaches to clinical problems in which participation by mathematicians and computer scientists is strongly encouraged.

The Center for Biomathematical Technology has been establishing scientific interfaces between research projects in the life sciences and undergraduate, graduate, and postdoctoral fellows interested in mathematics, physics, and computing. The goal is to involve students in promising projects while reinforcing these projects with qualified and motivated researchers. We have begun the development of a multidisciplinary training program which integrates fundamental concepts with recent advances in the biological, medical, and psychological sciences with mathematical modeling as well as innovative quantitative approaches to analysis and reasoning.
